The northeast is vast storehouse of many locally processed food items and community specific food items. The methods of processing of the items are in the hands of the local tribal communities and there is need to:
- Boost the storage, processing and marketing of perishable food products.
- Development and encouragement of processing of fish, meat, dairy and poultry products.
- Boost the production of locally used exotic and specialty food items of Northeast region and popularization among the other communities.
