ABOUT BUSINESS INCUBATION CENTRE IN FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE (BICFA)
Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture (BICFA), FIRST OF ITS KIND INITIATIVE UNDERTAKEN UNDER PMMSY IN NER, a pioneering venture by Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP), marking a first in Northeast Region (NER) of India supported by the Pradhan MantriMatsyaSampadaYojana (PMMSY). This initiative aims to prompt growth in entrepreneurship in the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector, specifically targeting the upliftment of entrepreneurship sector of NER.
OUR MISSION
To be the meeting point of technological innovation for knowledge-based enterprises under the fisheries & aquaculture sector and to provide sustainable linkages between the industry, research institutions and academia.
THRUST AREAS
BICFA is functioning from the permanent campus of GBP, North Guwahati, Assam and will mainly provide mentorship, hands-on training on:
- Quality fish seed production.
- Setting up of quality fish meal production.
- Promotion of freshwater ornamental fish as entrepreneur’s avenues.
- Preparation of value-added fish products.
- Pearl culture.
- Training on advanced analytical techniques/nutritional analyses.
- Aquarium Setup and Ornamental Fish-keeping

INDICATIVE ROLE
- BICFA will serve as a ‘one-stop-shop’ that nurtures the development of budding entrepreneurs.
- BICFA shall support business launch of new and existing products such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, materials that uses fisheries produce and by product, etc.
- BICFA will provide consultancy services, technology transfer assistance, fund syndication, project assistance, marketing assistance, facilitation or regulatory approvals and intellectual property related assistance
- BICFA, associates can incubate in the ready to use modular lab space at Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), GBP
